West Slope Kush B brings together two well-known Colorado hemp strains, Sour Blueberry Kush and West Slope Pepper, to create a high-CBD femininized hybrid that offers exceptional potency, flavor, and yield. West Slope Kush B produces premium hemp flowers quickly and reliably. Its tall structure and robust branching also make this variety a great choice for biomass production.

Sour Blueberry Kush and West Slope Pepper are two Indica-dominant hemp strains that have become popular among medical and recreational users for their relaxing, non-intoxicating effects and flavorful buds. West Slope Kush B combines the fruity and funky flavor of Sour Blueberry Kush with the spicy and savory bouquet of West Slope Pepper, producing a sweet-and-spicy strain rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

West Slope Kush B Origin

Sour Blueberry Kush

Sour Blueberry Kush, the mother of West Slope Kush B, was created by North Fork Agriculture, a group of farmers who have developed many well-known hemp cultivars, including Limeade, Orange Chem, and Star Fruit. North Fork Ag created Sour Blueberry Kush by crossing the renowned BaOx strain with other unknown hemp strains.

BaOx is a high-CBD strain that was developed by Centennial Seeds, a widely known hemp breeder based in Colorado. Centennial Seeds created this Indica-dominant strain by crossing an inbred-line of Hindu Kush with a CBD-rich cultivar known as Otto II. The breeders then backcrossed this hybrid to stabilize its most desirable traits. BaOx has become an essential tool for hemp breeders, allowing them to create many high-CBD strains that are potent, flavorful, and aromatic.

North Fork Ag crossed BaOx with other strains of industrial hemp to develop Sour Blueberry Kush. Although this hybrid is somewhat challenging to grow, Sour Blueberry Kush rewards farmers with an enormous harvest of sweet and skunky buds that are loaded with CBD and other beneficial hemp compounds.

West Slope Pepper

West Slope Pepper, the other parent of West Slope Kush B, also was created by North Fork Ag. Like Sour Blueberry Kush, this variety is a hybrid of BaOx and other unknown hemp strains. This easy-to-grow strain is hardy and vigorous, and it offers a musky and spicy flavor that many users enjoy. As it matures, West Slope Pepper forms large colas, with dense, frosty buds that are rich in CBD.

West Slope Kush B Lineage

Both Sour Blueberry Kush and West Slope Pepper are descendants of BaOx, which is a backcrossed hybrid of Hindu Kush and Otto II. Hindu Kush is a pure-Indica strain that originated in the Hindu Kush mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This landrace strain is short and bushy, and produces large, dense colas that are coated in a thick layer of trichomes. Hindu Kush tends to flower quickly and is highly resilient to many environmental stresses.

Otto II, the other parent of BaOx, is an unknown hybrid that is believed to be a cross of industrial strains of hemp. Otto II is a true-breeding cultivar that reliably produces offspring that are rich in CBD. This variety produces massive buds that emit a pleasant aroma of lemon and wood.

Fortuna Hemp’s West Slope Kush B is a femininized hybrid of Sour Blueberry Kush and West Slope Pepper. Feminized seeds make the growing process simple by eliminating the need to identify and isolate male plants. Approximately 99.9 percent of feminized seeds will produce all-female plants. This means that farmers can rest assured that nearly every West Slope Kush B seed will produce a hardy and sexually stable female plant.

West Slope Kush B is consistently low in THC and high in CBD. This cultivar contains an average of less than 0.3 percent THC, making it an ideal strain for licensed U.S. hemp farmers.

Growing West Slope Kush B

Sour Blueberry Kush is a moderately difficult strain to cultivate. This variety is sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and requires a consistent pH and ample nutrients to thrive. When grown outdoors, Sour Blueberry Kush flourishes in a warm climate with moderate humidity.

In contrast, West Slope Pepper is a hardy and vigorous strain that is resilient to most environmental stresses. This cultivar can thrive both indoors and outdoors and is adaptable to a wide variety of climates.

West Slope Kush B is easier to grow than Sour Blueberry Kush and is resilient to most pests and diseases. This cultivar can be grown both indoors and outdoors, using a variety of cultivation methods. West Slope Kush B boasts a femininization rate of more than 99 percent. This means that farmers can be sure that nearly every seed will produce a hardy and stable female hemp plant.

West Slope Kush B tends to flower quickly, and forms large, heavy colas. Due to the weight of the buds, the plants may need to be staked. This will keep the branches from bending over during the late flowering period. This variety typically reaches maturity within nine weeks; however, some phenotypes may take up to ten weeks to fully ripen.

To remain compliant with USDA hemp farming regulations, farmers typically test the cannabinoid content of West Slope Kush B plants in late August or early September. Some states such as Colorado require harvest reports no more than 30 days before harvest. Farmers should reference applicable state and local legislation regarding proper hemp-testing guidelines.

Indoor Growing

West Slope Kush B’s height makes it suitable for indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse cultivation. When grown indoors, the plants must be properly trained in order to minimize their stretch during the early flowering period. High-stress and low-stress training methods such as topping, fimming, and super cropping may help to limit the vertical stretch, increase the lateral branching, and boost the yield of West Slope Kush B.

Pest and Disease Control

West Slope Kush B is resistant to most pests, diseases, and environmental stresses. This strain can handle minor fluctuations in temperature and pH and can withstand suboptimal soil conditions. Some extreme environmental stresses, such as heavy rainfall or high winds, may cause the plants to produce higher levels of THC. Farmers in harsh environments may benefit from growing the plants indoors or in greenhouses.

Due to the density and frost of the buds, West Slope Kush B may be prone to botrytis, also known as bud rot. Farmers can prevent botrytis infections by planting in direct sunlight, spacing the plants apart (2,500 to 3,000 seeds per acre), and pruning the plants. Indoor farmers can prevent botrytis by providing ample lighting and ventilation, keeping the humidity level below 50 percent during the flowering period, and removing excess fan leaves.

During the vegetative growth period, West Slope Kush B thrives on a diet rich in nitrogen. As the plants bloom, they require higher levels of phosphorous and potassium. To prevent nutrient deficiencies, farmers can provide the plants with a diet that is rich in nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium, as well as modest concentrations of calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, and trace amounts of chlorine, molybdenum, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, and boron.

West Slope Kush B flourishes in slightly acidic soil, with a pH level between six and seven. Providing the proper pH level will enable the plants to absorb a wide spectrum of nutrients. If the pH is too low or too high, West Slope Kush B may display signs of nutrient deficiencies.

  1. David (verified owner)

I have had a 40% germination rate on the first 5 seeds that I have used. Out of the 2 seeds that germinated successfully, only 1 of them has successfully sprouted leafs and started to grow. I have been growing for years using the standard “soak first and then use a wet paper towel in a bag” technique. I have not had this low of a germination rate with any other seeds. Are these old?
